True Support

Insight: Many people present themselves as a support for causes, even if their actions do not align with their statements.

Big idea: Create a place where both brands and consumers are held accountable for their contribution to social movements or problems in the world.

True Support’s home screen allows you to click which cause or movement you are interested in learning more about.

Clicking the Black Lives Matter icon takes you to information about the BLM movement and brand-related information.

Clicking “Brands that Support BLM” provides a list of brands that have shared a statement or advertisement about the cause. All brands on this list have somehow publicly claimed they support the cause.

Clicking “Nike” brings you to a list how they have supported the cause. As shown, Nike has strong BLM movement support through advertisements, social posts, articles, statements, collaborations, and more.

McDonald’s needs to improve their policies to truly support the BLM movement, which doesn’t align with its statements on the cause. See the areas they are lacking and need improvement.

Clicking “McDonald's” shows how they announced support of the cause, but have done minimal actions to back up their statement. Recognize a brand’s true support through the substantiality of actions under their support tab.

True Support also acts as a resource. Interested in the BLM movement? Get involved through the resources provide directly on the app.
